Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and Apollo Hospitals will work together to make healthcare services affordable and accessible to all, said N Chandrasekaran, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, TCS.
Launching Apollo Hospitals’ facility on Chennai's IT corridor, Old Mahabalipuram Road, today, he said technology will take healthcare services even to the remotest corner of the country with ease and accuracy.
The battle against disease needs to begin even before its onset and technology like data analytics will play a huge role in preventive medicine and diagnostic services, saving millions of precious lives, he said.
Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group, said TCS has built ‘Medmantra’ a core IT system, for the hospital group to network all its hospitals, diagnostic service centres and pharmacies to enable a patient to go paperless from point to point — right from admission to the hospital to rehabilitation process at his/her home.
“Indian healthcare system is par excellence and with such technological support, we can make our country a global destination for healthcare,” he said.
The 150-bed hospital, the chain’s 56{+t}{+h} , he said will offer high-end tertiary care across various medical disciplines with special focus on neurosciences, cardiac sciences, orthopaedics and trauma with 24x7 emergency care services. It will also launch a well-equipped Apollo Sugar Clinic at the facility.
100-cr investment
According to Reddy, the company has invested over 100 crore in the new hospital, its 10{+t}{+h} in Chennai, which will function “almost paper-less” as all medical records will be in electronic form, which can be accessed anywhere.
Besides, it can offer healthcare services to patients through virtual consultation powered by telemedicine.
Thanks to 'Medmantra', doctors at any of Apollo hospital can seek expert advice from consultants elsewhere.
