Arkansas Children’s Hospital to build Hospital Campus in Springdale

Saturday, August 08, 2015

Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock plans to build a new hospital campus in Springdale, ACH President and CEO announced Friday (August 7).

The announcement for the new facility was made by the hospital at the Color of Hope Gala in Rogers, Ark. on Friday evening (Aug. 7).

The 225,000-square-foot hospital will sit on 37 acres of land located along Interstate-49 between Don Tyson Parkway and Highway 412 across the street from Arvest Ballpark. The land was donated by the George family of George’s Inc.

Gary George said his family’s history with the hospital, and experience with their ability to save life, is what influenced them to donate the land.

ACH President and CEO Marcy Doderer said the long-term plan is to create a state-wide system of services that will improve access to pediatric care and the health of Arkansas children. She said they are starting with building the campus in Northwest Arkansas.

The state-of-art hospital will have 24 inpatient beds, an emergency department/urgent care center with 21 exam rooms, 30 clinic exam rooms, five operating rooms, imaging capabilities, diagnostic services and a helipad with a refueling station.

The project will be a $184 million investment in the area over the next five years.

In 2014, 21,000 children were treated at the ACH Clinic in Lowell and more than 450 children were transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital. With the new campus in Springdale, 70% of Northwest Arkansas residents will be able to reach ACH’s services within 30 minutes or less.
