Tuesday, June 23, 2015

Houston-based Medistar Corp. recently sold the new 53,513-square-foot Webster Rehabilitation Hospital to a Kansas City, Missouri-based real estate investment trust.

Carter Validus Mission Center REIT II Inc. bought the Webster hospital for an undisclosed amount, and the deal closed June 5.

According to a June 19 release from Medistar, a real estate developer that focuses on health care facilities, the hospital includes a 45-bed inpatient rehabilitation facility and a unit designed for patients with brain injuries or neurological disorders. It also offers outpatient physical therapy, psychological therapy, and social and vocational rehabilitation.

The development has been fully leased to Clear Lake Institute of Rehabilitation LLC, a newly formed subsidiary of Pennsylvania-based Post-Acute Medical LLC that owns 28 medical facilities across Texas and Louisiana. Dallas-based Cobalt Medical Development co-developed the property with Medistar and is a co-owner of the operation with Post-Acute Medical LLC.

Medistar also plans to build several facilities across the Houston area over the next few years.
