E&I Cooperative Services and Medline announce New Contract

Friday, September 18, 2015

Medline Industries, Inc., a global medical supplies manufacturer and distributor, was recently awarded a five-year group purchasing agreement with E&I Cooperative Services, a not-for-profit sourcing cooperative that delivers expertise, solutions and services to higher education and related institutions.  The contract is expected to deliver competitive pricing and significant savings on more than 350,000 products within Medline’s portfolio of medical and surgical supplies, such as personal protective apparel, examination and surgical gloves, surgical instrumentation and sterilization products, etc.

While the agreement  will benefit more than 3,700 E&I members nationwide, the primary focus will be on higher education institutions, including medical schools, nursing schools, dentistry schools and research laboratories.

“This unique partnership with E&I takes Medline outside the traditional realm of health care many would think of, such as acute and post-acute care, and focuses on providing a robust portfolio of products that reach healthcare workers at the learning and research stages to help them perform at their very best,” said John Ahearn, senior vice president of national accounts for scientific products at Medline.

Furthermore, with Medline’s more than 40 distribution centers strategically located throughout the U.S., E&I members will be able to quickly receive products, when and where they need them.

“We are excited to welcome Medline to our portfolio, and we’re confident this contract will provide increased value to our members for all their medical supplies needs,” said Tom Fitzgerald, CEO of E&I. “It is important for us to align ourselves with partners that offer the highest quality products and services at the best available pricing, and Medline delivers all of these qualities to the educational marketplace.”

The contract is effective through June 30, 2020.
