Ground broken for new $17.5 million Fayetteville medical center

Wednesday, December 30, 2015

A groundbreaking for a new medical center took place Tuesday in Fayetteville.

Southern Regional Area Health Education Center plans to open the new location in 2017.

The medical center serves families in Cumberland County and surrounding areas. It’s located at 1601 Owen Drive.

The new building will be 50,000 square feet with three floors.

“We’re gonna tear down one of our older buildings that was actually built in the 1960s and squeeze it in among our existing operations and then when we move in to the new building about 18 months from now. We’ll tear down the remaining buildings and build plenty of parking,” said Deborah Teasley.

Construction for the $17.5 million facility will begin in January.
