MEDNAX, Inc., announced the acquisition of Mid-Missouri Neonatology, LLC, a private neonatal physician group practice based in Columbia, Mo.
Mid-Missouri Neonatology, LLC was founded in 1997 and employs 3 full-time neonatologists. The practice provides delivery, neonatal, newborn nursery, pediatric and consultative services at Boone Hospital Center, a 21 bed Level III NICU. Once integrated, full-time neonatal nurse practitioners will be added to support growth of the practice.
“MEDNAX’s robust clinical database, as well as the company’s emphasis on research, education and quality initiatives, has advanced neonatal care on a national scale,” said Timothy O’Connor, M.D., who will serve as medical director. “As a group focused on providing parent and patient-centered care, we know MEDNAX will provide us with the infrastructure and other support we need to further enhance the services we have been providing in our community for more than 20 years.”
This acquisition adds to the services MEDNAX provides in Missouri across multiple specialties which include maternal-fetal, neonatal, cardiac and hearing screen services.
This practice was acquired for cash and the transaction is expected to be immediately accretive to earnings. No additional terms of this transaction was disclosed.
