Modular hospital in Moura, Queensland nears completion with modulars being transported to site

Friday, February 13, 2015

A new hospital in Moura, in central Queensland, will soon be one step closer to completion.

Fourteen modules making up the hospital, being constructed at Yatala south of Brisbane, will be transported to the site in the next couple of weeks.

The chairwoman of the Moura Hospital Consumer Advisory Group, Debbie Elliott, said although the buildings were not being built on the land itself, she was confident it would look and feel like any other hospital.

"It just looks like a really modern building and inside it just flows like any sort of a building you'd walk into, I guess," she said.

"There's nothing that says it's modules. You don't look at it and go, 'well that looks like dongas'. It's truly a very exciting building to look at."

She said the modules would be transported to the site in the next couple of weeks.

"By the end of the month I'm sure they'll be here," she said.

"We have had a couple of hold-ups just with the wet weather. Other than that I think the site it pretty ready for them now and it'll just be a matter of getting police escorts and things like that organised and they'll be on the road."
