Ohio's Union Hospital to open Union Physician Services Family Medicine Center North at Dover

Thursday, November 12, 2015

Construction has started for a new Union Physician Services (UPS) Family Medicine Center in the northern end of Dover that will house several providers and patient services consolidated into one location.

The UPS Family Medicine Center North will be located in the 3000 block of N. Wooster Ave., across from Buehler’s Fresh Foods in the business development next to Discount Drug Mart. The facility is projected to open in the late summer of 2016 and initially will include four primary care physicians, a dermatologist and several nurse practitioners, along with associated office staff.

Union Physician Services is owned and operated by Union Hospital and includes a total of 29 providers located in 11 offices throughout Tuscarawas County. The construction of the new Dover facility will feature larger patient exam rooms, expanded hours into the evening during weekdays and offering weekend hours, along with plenty of parking.

The addition of the new facility is part of the hospital’s goal to improve access to affordable healthcare in the region, said Bruce James, president and chief executive officer of Union Hospital.

“We all recognize that the traditional method of physician care and expectations of patients are changing, and Union Physician Services is evolving to better serve our patients and the community,” James said. “Through the construction of a modern facility and by offering wider hours of service, our patients can more easily make appointments to suit their busy work and personal schedules.”

The UPS Family Medicine Center North will be staffed by primary care physicians John Burnham, MD; Kristi Leindecker, MD; Spencer Pinion, MD; and Deepthi Singam, MD. Lindsey Moore, MD, will see dermatology patients. All of those providers will move from their current office locations to the UPS Family Medicine Center North when it opens, James said.

“This facility and location are poised for today and tomorrow, with space for future additions of primary care and specialty care providers, and specialized preventative services such as behavioral health, nutrition counseling, health coaching and employer-specific health services,” James said. “Union Hospital and Union Physician Services are our community’s health partners and we have created this location as a part of that partnership.”

UPS will lease the building and slightly more than 2.5 acres from developers Exit 85 R/E Group LLC. Construction of the building is being handled by Ivan Weaver Construction. Jeremy Rager, a real estate agent with RE/Max Crossroads at New Philadelphia, managed the transaction.
