Prince of Wales Hospital in Hong Kong Pioneers First Application of Galaxy System™ for Next-Gen Robotic Bronchoscopy in Asia

Wednesday, December 06, 2023

Noah Medical proudly announces the inaugural use of its Galaxy System in Asia at Hong Kong's Prince of Wales Hospital, led by Drs. Calvin Ng and Rainbow Lau. This advanced medical robotics system enables physicians to perform lung nodule biopsies with confidence, revolutionizing bronchoscopy for improved efficacy and efficiency. This marks the initiation of the first clinical trial for the robotic bronchoscopy system in the Asian region.

Developed collaboratively with healthcare professionals, the robotic platform combines cutting-edge technologies, including proprietary integrated tomosynthesis (TiLT+ Technology™) with augmented fluoroscopy, a disposable single-use bronchoscope, and a compact footprint for easy integration into most bronchoscopy suites. Recent preclinical trials showcased the Galaxy System's capabilities, achieving a 100% success rate in navigating to lesions, a 100% diagnostic yield, and 95% tool-in-lesion accuracy. In human trials, the system demonstrated 100% tool-in-lesion accuracy and a 90-95% diagnostic yield.

The ongoing trial in Hong Kong focuses on further validating the system's TiLT+ Technology, center-strike accuracy, and overall diagnostic yield. The trial, currently underway with successfully enrolled patients, follows the Galaxy System's FDA clearance in early 2023 and its commercial use in the United States since May. As Noah Medical's first commercial robotic system, the Galaxy System aligns with the company's mission to deliver widely adoptable clinical solutions through innovative endoluminal technologies, aiming to enhance the quality of life for patients globally.
