Wednesday, November 14, 2018

HIG Capital, a global leader in investment private equity in medium-sized companies, with $ 30 billion of capital under management, today announced that its portfolio company, the Group Meridional ("Meridional" or "Grupo"), one of the largest hospital networks in Brazil, completed the acquisition of Metropolitano Hospital ("Metropolitano").

Founded in 1996, the Metropolitano was the first private hospital in the State of Espírito Santo. Currently with 146 beds, Metropolitano is one of the main hospitals of high complexity of the whole State, being accredited by the National Accreditation Organization (ONA) with a maximum level of excellence, and was pioneer in diverse treatments and medical specialties. In addition, it is the only state hospital with a unit intended exclusively for geriatric patients.

Located in the city of Serra, in the metropolitan region of Vitória, capital of Espírito Santo, Metropolitano has a strategic location, being extremely complementary to the location of the other five hospitals of the Meridional in the state of Espirito Santo. Antônio Benjamim, CEO of the Group, commented: "We are very excited about the acquisition of Metropolitano. Now we are present in all regions of Greater Vitória and we are a complete solution for patients, doctors and health plans. We want to work together with the Metropolitan team to provide the very latest in healthcare services for all our patients and clinical staff. "

"With the acquisition of Metropolitano Hospital, Meridional reaches the important brand of 600 beds under the Group's management, consolidates its leadership in Espírito Santo and positions itself as one of the largest hospital networks in Brazil," commented Rodrigo Feitosa, Director of HIG Brasil. He adds: "We will continue to support the growth of Meridional in and out of the Holy Spirit."
