Consortium of Leading Hospitals Adopts the par8o Operating System to Automate Standardized Clinical Assessment Programs

Tuesday, June 30, 2015

BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- par8o, Healthcare’s Operating System, today announced that The Institute for Relevant Clinical Data Analytics (IRCDA), a neutral, third-party organization that provides education and resources for the development, implementation, and analysis of Standardized Clinical Assessment and Management Plans (SCAMPs®), has partnered with them to integrate clinical decision support at the point of care. IRCDA’s participating member hospitals include Boston Children’s Hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Florida Hospital, and Sahlgrenska Hospital in Sweden. par8o’s innovative technology will automate the process of enrollment and data collection from IRCDA member organizations into various SCAMP programs, enabling ongoing data collection to improve quality of care and reduce unnecessary resource utilization. par8o’s technology will facilitate full workflow integration across members’ electronic medical records (EMRs), from leading EMR providers including Epic, Cerner, and Allscripts.

IRCDA enables providers to enroll patients in evidence-based, clinical treatment pathways (SCAMPs) leading to better collaboration among providers, reduced practice variation, reduction of unnecessary utilization, and improved patient outcomes. One of the most unique attributes of SCAMPs is that it is a ‘crowdsourced’ approach to clinical guidelines—instead of being tied to existing guidelines, providers can contribute insights regarding best practices in real-time, impacting the evolution and improvement of healthcare in their field, all facilitated by par8o. par8o will enable IRCDA users to engage in SCAMPs from within their own electronic medical record (EMR) systems, including Epic and Cerner. Providers will also be able to engage via a mobile form factor, driving convenience and utilization.

“par8o’s seamless integration into different EMR systems and workflows made them the clear choice for us when we were looking for a technology partner,” said James Lock, MD Cardiologist in Chief at Boston Children’s Hospital and IRCDA. “We expect par8o’s clear ability to match the right patient to the right resources at the right time to build upon IRCDA’s proven ability to reduce unnecessary utilization and maintain or improve care, making the whole process much easier and more timely.”

SCAMPs outline a data-backed, consensus-based, care pathway for a diverse patient population with a particular diagnosis or condition. Data are collected on the treatment and outcomes of that population, analyzed, and then used to improve upon the care pathway. With their proven success in meeting these goals in many different clinical settings (adult, pediatric, multiple disciplines, inpatient, outpatient, etc.), SCAMPs garnered interest from institutions across the world. IRCDA was started in 2010 to spread and promote SCAMPs to interested institutions.

“In order to improve outcomes we need a trusted, easy-to-use method for gathering and analyzing outcomes data for specific courses of treatment,” said Daniel Palestrant, MD, co-founder and CEO at par8o. “SCAMPs represent this “last mile” of value-based care, and coupled with par8o’s technology, IRCDA member organizations will be able to have the insights they need to deliver precise, data-driven care, which will improve outcomes dramatically.”

par8o’s Healthcare Operating System empowers healthcare organizations to optimize their networks of providers and other resources to deliver quality care by applying one of the most powerful and proven principles in economics: Pareto Optimization. This approach, and the EMR-agnostic technologies par8o has developed to deploy it, are well-suited to the complex, multi-constituency nature of healthcare because they achieve continuous efficiency improvements while balancing the needs of all parties.

About The Institute for Relevant Clinical Data Analytics (IRCDA)

The Institute for Relevant Clinical Data Analytics (IRCDA) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides education and resources for the development, implementation, and analysis of Standardized Clinical Assessment and Management Plans (SCAMPs®) at participating institutions. SCAMPs are an innovative method of examining relevant clinical data to improve patient outcomes while reducing practice variation and unnecessary resource utilization. SCAMPs outline a data-backed, consensus-based, care pathway for a diverse patient population with a particular diagnosis or condition. SCAMPs can be created for a variety of clinical diagnoses or conditions in any type of clinical setting. The most productive SCAMPs target areas where treatment guidelines do not exist or there is uncertainty in management. To learn more, please visit www.ircda.org.
