IHF Awards 2019 Winners Announced

The IHF Awards 2019 winners were announced in an awards ceremony last 8 November during the 43rd World Hospital Congress in the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. Kaohsiung Veterans General Hospital from Taiwan won the most coveted Gold Award for the IHF/Dr. Kwang Tae Kim Grand Award for their project “A comprehensive and sequential solution enhancing the quality care of acute myocardial infarction”.

The winners were selected by an international jury of renowned healthcare industry leaders chaired by Dr. Lawrence Lai, Honorary Member of the International Hospital Federation (IHF).

Commenting on the winners, Dr. Lai said “Choosing the winners this year has been particularly difficult because of the very high standards and quality of all submitted entries. This year, we’ve come up with what I believe to be the best set of winners from a good spread of countries. That said, some countries are definitely doing better than others. My heartiest congratulations to the UAE for winning 5 out of the 27 awards this year.”

The IHF Awards, now on its fifth year, celebrates and recognizes hospitals and healthcare organizations with demonstrable excellence, innovations, and outstanding achievements in the healthcare industry. This year, it attracted 121 entries from 34 countries. Twenty-seven entries came out on top and were selected as finalists from which the eventual winners and merit awardees were chosen in the IHF / Dr. Kwang Tae Kim Grand Award and Excellence Awards in Corporate Social Responsibility, Leadership and Management in Healthcare, and Quality & Safety and Patient-centered Care.

Tulungagung Dr. Iskak General Hospital from Indonesia won the Gold Award in the IHF/Bionexo Excellence Award for Corporate Social Responsibility for their project “Public Safety Centre”.

Ministry of Health & Prevention from the UAE took home the Gold Award in the IHF Excellence Award for Leadership and Management in Healthcare for their project “Performance and Clinical Excellence program (PaCE)”.

India’s Apollo Health & Lifestyle Ltd. received the Gold Award in the IHF/Austco Excellence Award for Quality & Safety and Patient-centered Care for their project “Apollo Safety Development Model: Building a Culture of Safety at Apollo Specialty Hospitals”.
