Siemens Healthineers is introducing the Cios Flow1 at this year’s Annual Meeting of the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA 2020). The mobile C-arm was developed to make everyday workflows in imaging for surgical interventions easier and more efficient. Cios Flow can be used by many different medical disciplines in the OR, including orthopedics and trauma surgery, spinal surgery, vascular surgery, as well as pain therapy. This wide range of applications helps taking care of high capacity utilization for the system, making the device more cost-effective.

In state-of-the-art operating rooms (OR), surgical teams often work under time pressure and have to multitask. An uninterrupted workflow is extremely important in order to avoid compromising patient safety and efficiency in the OR. Especially when quick action is required, operating a mobile C-arm can prove challenging if the medical team has little experience with it. Now, Siemens Healthineers aims to make imaging easier with Cios Flow, offering low weight, easy maneuverability, and an intuitive touch-gesture interface.

The SpotAdapt function helps visualize anatomical areas that are more difficult to represent. All the user has to do, is tap on the specific anatomical area on the preview image on the Touch User Interface. Relevant imaging and post-processing parameters such as brightness and contrast are then automatically optimized.

In addition, Cios Flow offers a range of security functions to help minimize the risk of cyber-attacks against system or patient data. These include user management to define rights for separate user groups, in order to help to prevent unauthorized access. Applications can also be added to whitelists, and data can be encrypted. Logging of key configuration changes supports transparency about when settings were changed, which settings were involved, and who made the changes.

The CiosOpenApps function lets users expand their mobile C-arm capabilities to include additional applications of their choice from the Siemens Healthineers Digital Marketplace for imaging and image post-processing.
