Introduction:

AMC Apollo Medical Centre (AMC), opened on Sep 06, 2005, introduced the first Mother and Childcare Centre, filling a gap between super-specialty hospitals and polyclinics. The Centre will be upgraded to a 100-bed by year-end. The AMC is a multi-speciality health destination with state-of-the-art technology, providing sophisticated and specialised medical services in various specialities. Apollo Medical Centre Muscat will begin inpatient services from the first week of July. By July first week, two state-of-the-art operation theatres, delivery suites, inpatient services with 30-beds, ICU (critical care) with 10-beds and a sophisticated labour room will be completed. At present, AMC offers only outpatient services in orthopaedics, gynaecology, neo-natology and paediatrics, internal medicine, dentistry, dermatology and ENT. Cardiology, general surgery and ophthalmology services will be added by July end. The Centre plans to set up a full-fledged non-interventional cardiology department, besides superspeciality clinics for urology, oncology, neurosurgery, cardiac surgery, joint replacements from Apollo Hospitals Group in India. In addition, AMC also plans to link up with the telemedicine project of the Apollo Hospitals Group in India. It will also arrange for referring certain cases to Apollo Hospitals in India for second opinion. The AMC is currently recruiting new staff from Hyderabad. “We will be getting new nurses, paramedics, technicians, super specialty consultants and the like from the Apollo hospitals in India,” Sandeep said, noting that the new recruits will take the total number of staff to 75, including doctors.

The centre is expected to fill the gap between super-specialty hospitals and polyclinics in the Gulf nation. The 100-bed Apollo Medical Centre (AMC) in Oman will become a 100-bed super-specialty hospital by the year-end.

The AMC is located in the heart of Muscat near Al Hamriya roundabout, next to the gold market.

Benefits:

Patients requiring further treatment would also be redirected through the AMC to any Apollo branch in India. Also, regular Apollo hospital super specialty consultants will be visiting the AMC. “And in India, the rates (at Apollo) are quite affordable.” For emergency treatment, the AMC already has a six-bed emergency facility.
