Apollo Hospitals Group to build a facility in Mauritius
Introduction
The Apollo Group of Hospitals, one of the largest private healthcare providers in Asia, has tied up with the Mauritius-based British American Investment Company to set up Apollo Bramwell Hospital, a new facility, in Mauritius.
The organisation’s focus is to target patients from the neighbouring African and European Union countries and also to provide technical consultancy services in the project implementation stage. Apollo will be responsible for the operation of the facility, once it is completed.
Budget
Initially the cost of the project was expected as US$ 50 million, but was later revised by Apollo Hospitals to US$ 70 million. The Apollo Group will invest 26 per cent in equity in the British American Hospitals Enterprise Ltd, a joint venture company.
Features
The new facility will include advanced healthcare facilities with infrastructure and personnel across 50 specialties and super-specialties and a nursing institution. This joint venture will also cater to the growing medical tourist population. The patient accommodation facility will contain 200 beds which can be expanded to 350 beds. The cabins will be built on the mountain tops, helping patients to recover faster after surgeries with the scenic beauty around. The new hospital will be operated with 200 physicians, nurses and paramedical staff.
