Berkeley Medical Center to Advance Patient Care with $200.9M Expansion
Introduction
WVU Medicine is investing $200.9 million in Berkeley Medical Center to expand and modernise its facilities. The project includes a new patient tower, improved campus infrastructure, and upgraded services, marking a major step in enhancing patient care.
Features
The new patient tower will increase inpatient capacity from 190 to 316 beds, removing all semi-private rooms to provide fully private accommodation.
The radiation oncology centre will receive a new LINAC (linear accelerator), and the Emergency Department will be redesigned with a separate entry and waiting area for paediatric patients.
The redevelopment also includes up to 450 additional parking spaces, accessible via a parking bridge and shuttle service.
Construction will start with the parking infrastructure, followed by the tower’s groundbreaking.
The new patient tower is scheduled to open in early 2028.
