Introduction:
Cape Fear Valley Health System plans for the expansion to its flagship hospital. The new expansion will be located at the existing Valley Pavilion section of the medical center.

The construction features two new floors which will be connected to the current medical center. The Cape Fear Valley Medical Center will add 100 new beds to the existing capacity.
This expansion is done to reduce the delays in our Emergency Department and to provide growing needs of the people. Moreover, this expansion will reduce the wait times in the emergency department.
Nearly 40 per cent of new beds will be designed as ICU beds whereas the remaining beds are dedicated for medical/surgery inpatient and observation. All the ICU and remaining beds will be located in private patient rooms.
The construction also includes two rooftop helipads, allowing patients to be taken by elevator directly into the hospital emergency department.
The expansion is expected to be completed by the end of 2024, and create an additional 187 full-time equivalent positions at the medical center.
