Cariboo Memorial Hospital breaks ground with a US$366.5 million investment to enhance healthcare access in Williams Lake, Canada.

Features:

The construction of the fully redeveloped hospital will take place in two phases. The first phase will consist of a three-storey addition, and Phase 2 will follow, involving additional renovations. The key components of Phase 1 include:

Three-Storey Addition:

  • A new medical/surgical inpatient unit with 36 beds, which will result in an increase of 16 beds to the hospital's total capacity
  • A new mental-health and substance-use inpatient unit with eight single-occupancy rooms, a patient-seclusion room and an expanded ambulatory-care and oncology unit with 16 renovated treatment spaces
  • A new emergency department with 23 treatment spaces, signifying an increase of 12 treatment spaces
  • Two trauma-treatment bays, a seclusion room, an ambulance carport, and a separate public entrance will also be incorporated into the new addition.

Expanded Maternity and Women's Health Unit:

  • The new addition will feature an expanded maternity and women's health unit, offering four single-occupancy rooms dedicated to maternity care
  • Additionally, there will be two nursery rooms and two women's health beds in private rooms, enabling parents to stay in the same room with their babies until they are ready to be discharged.

Phase 1 focuses on the construction of a three-storey addition, slated for completion in 2026. Phase 2 will encompass further renovations and is scheduled to complete in 2029.
