Introduction:
Carilion Clinic announced its plan to invest US$300 million in expanding Roanoke memorial hospital and Behavioral health building in the Roanoke innovation corridor.

As part of expansion, a new tower will be constructed for emergency and heart patients.
The expansion of the project will add 400,000 square feet to the hospital, which also includes a new behavioural health hospital, a parking garage and pedestrian skyway to connect it all.
The Emergency Department will include 95 beds, in addition to a new 40-bed observation unit. The new rehabilitation building will add the departments of psychiatry and behavioural medicine.
New 500 parking lots will be added to a parking garage along with a pedestrian skyway connecting the garage to the emergency department, Crystal Spring Tower.
The construction of the facility will begin later this year and is expected to complete in the next five years.
