Fortis and DLF to set up 15 hospitals in 5 years

Introduction:

The Ranbaxy group company, Fortis Healthcare has entered into a joint venture agreement with New Delhi-based construction company, DLF to set up 15 hospitals in the next five years with an investment of US$754 million (Rs3,000 crore). The two companies are also exploring other options beside equity partnerships like buy-outs and management contracts. DLF could opt for multiple operators to manage and run the hospitals (other than the 15 agreed upon). DLF and Fortis signed 'alliance agreement' to develop about 15 'Centre of Excellence' hospitals in townships being developed by DLF.

The hospitals will be located all over India.

Budget:

The total investment on these 15 hospitals is likely to be to the tune of US$ 754 million (Rs 3,000 crore), US$ 50 million (Rs 200 crore) per hospital.

Features:

The hospitals will belong to the super-speciality category. They are likely to be of 250-400 bed capacity with a minimum built-up area of 20,000 sq m.
