Fraser Health Invests US$2.88 billion for Surrey's New Cancer Centre Construction in Canada

Fraser Health constructs new hospital and cancer centre with an investment of US$2.88 billion in Surrey, Canada.

The new Surrey Hospital and cancer centre is designed to revolutionise medical services in the region, ensuring that all residents receive prompt, top-notch healthcare.

This state-of-the-art facility will add a total of 168 hospital beds, including medical/surgical beds, high-acuity beds, and medical oncology beds, along with a second emergency department offering 55 treatment spaces and remote access to specialists through advanced virtual technologies.

The hospital will house a state-of-the-art surgical/perioperative suite featuring five operating rooms, four procedure rooms, and comprehensive virtual care options spanning clinical service areas, such as virtual intake, follow-ups for emergency cases, outpatient clinics, and pre- and post-surgical care. 

Additionally, it will incorporate cutting-edge technologies like robotics, wearable devices, and smart beds to enhance patient care.

In addition to the hospital, the new BC Cancer Centre, which will house a 50-room oncology ambulatory care unit. This cancer centre is designed to accommodate 54 chemotherapy treatment spaces, six linear accelerators for advanced radiation therapy, two PET/CT scanners, and a cyclotron.

Anticipated annual services include approximately 105,000 ambulatory oncology care visits, 50,000 radiation therapy visits, and 22,000 chemotherapy visits.

Construction of this groundbreaking hospital and cancer centre is scheduled for completion in 2029, with an official opening slated for 2030.
