Geisinger Invests US$900 million to Expand the Campus
Introduction:
Geisinger to invest US$900 million in a multi-phase strategic plan aimed at improving healthcare accessibility in northeastern Pennsylvania, USA.
Features:
The project will begin with preliminary work this year. By investing in advanced infrastructure, expanding the facilities and acquiring the latest technology, individuals in northeastern Pennsylvania can access the necessary and deserved care without having to travel elsewhere.
The expansion plans include the construction of an 11-storey bed tower, which will transform the hospital into a fully private-room facility. This addition will not only enhance patient comfort and privacy but also expand the surgical capabilities of the medical centre.
This comprehensive project will nearly double the size of Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, encompassing approximately 600,000 square feet. To accommodate the growth, both new construction and the renovation of over 100,000 square feet in the existing hospital will take place.
The expansion also includes increasing the number of operating rooms, emergency rooms, and intensive care beds. It also involves the modernisation of the Richard and Marion Pearsall Heart Hospital, with a focus on expanding the Heart and Vascular inpatient and surgical capacity.
Additionally, the project will create additional spaces for advanced cardiac interventional procedures, ensuring the medical centre remains at the forefront of cardiac care.
The expansion project will be executed in phases, with the new tower anticipated to open by 2028. Renovations on the existing campus will continue until 2030.
