Geisinger Medical Centre Invests US$880 million to Expand its Campus in USA

Introduction:

Geisinger Medical Centre plans to invest US$880 million to expand its campus in USA.

Features:

The proposed project involves the construction of a new 11-storey tower at the front of the hospital, adjacent to an expanded main entrance area.

This development will significantly enhance and modernise the Geisinger Medical Centre campus, equipping it with contemporary spaces and tools to address the region’s present and future healthcare needs, with a strong emphasis on patient experience and high-level care.

The new tower will include a larger emergency room designed to serve more patients and streamline the care process.

This new ER will double the current space, expanding from 45 beds to 60 beds. Additionally, updated and expanded intensive care units and operating suites will be situated around the ER, facilitating collaboration between teams in treating the most critically ill and severely injured patients.

This expansion represents the latest investment in the region’s healthcare infrastructure. Recently, the system commenced construction on the Geisinger Behavioural Health Centre Danville, a 96-bed inpatient facility in Mahoning Township, expected to open in 2025.

The expansion project is scheduled to begin in 2025, with the tower construction taking place in phases and the new tower expected to open in 2028.
