Global Hospitals Plans `Health City' in Chennai, India
Introduction
The Hyderabad-based Global Hospitals, a part of Ravindranath GE Medical Associates which acquired Chennai-based Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Sankara Hospital (SKKSH, formerly known as Tamilnad Hospital) for US$ 58.4 million (Rs 257 crore), plans to transform the hospital into a US$ 247 millions (Rs 1000 crore) health city on the 46-acre hospital site. Global Hospitals plans to go public in order to fund the project.
Features
The hospital plans to expand the bed capacity from the current 450 to 1000, set up medical research facilities, service apartments, multi-organ transplant institute, heart and lung institute, neuro sciences, trauma, orthopaedic and cancer institutes. It also plans to provide alternative therapy in the next 5-10 years.
Location
The Global Hospitals Health city will be located on 46-acre campus of the Sankara Hospital in Chennai,India.
Budget
The project is estimated to cost US$ 247 millions.
