Dubai plans to build a teaching hospital at Dubai Healthcare City
Introduction
Dubai plans to launch a teaching hospital by 2011. Proposed to offer specialist treatments, the facility will be located within the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC) and will be a part of the Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Academic Medical Centre. This University Hospital will work as a tertiary care facility.
Budget
The government of Dubai is investing US$ 571.76 million (Dh 2.1 billion) in the teaching hospital.
Features
The complex will provide most of the healthcare facilities including treatments, research, training etc. In addition to this, the facility also comprises Harvard Medical School Dubai Center (HMSDC), Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research, Maktoum Harvard Library and Jumeirah Creekside Park Hotel. Work is in progress on the 400-bed facility, which is expected to be operational by the year 2011. Once ready, the hospital will employ around 2,000 staff which will include 400 physicians and 1,000 nurses.
The hospital will offer a range of diagnostic, therapeutic and experimental facilities, surgeries, imaging, clinical and surgical pathology, minimally invasive procedures, non-trauma emergency care and consultations.
