Introduction:
King’s Daughters Medical Center plans to open emergency department to meet the growing needs of community in the future.
Features:
The new imaging department consists of cardiac imaging, MRI, nuclear medicine, ultrasound and X-Ray are all arranged adjacent to the new emergency department.
The emergency department features
• Care initiation area with five exams areas, 12 results pending areas for low-acuity patients, and a stat lab for blood draws and EKGs
• Two trauma bays allowing up to four patients simultaneously, providing direct access to in the in-department CT scanners
• Numerous procedure rooms
• Addition of isolation areas, negative air pressure rooms are constructed beside a separate decontamination entrance, as well one near the main entrance
• Ambulance entrance covered with triage bays
• Separate entrance designed for patients brought by law enforcement officers, and behavioral health patients
• Work area allocated specially for EMS and law enforcement officers to complete documentation
• Bariatric exam room with equippments
• The ED also includes two separate decontamination entrances and an isolation pod.
The new emergengy is expected to open in late 2024.
