Introduction:
Lehigh Valley Health Network (LVHN) announced the expansion plans to Lehigh Valley Hospital (LVH) Hazleton in Hazleton, USA.

As part of the Lehigh Valley Hospital expansion, parking and access to the main lobby and emergency room will undergo changes. The emergency room, main lobby and front entrance of the hospital will be expanded to almost double its current size from its existing 10,000 square feet to almost 19,000 square feet.
The multi-million dollar project will witness a change in parking patterns. There will be limited spaces for patient drop-off and handicap parking in the main lot. Parking lots have been changed as patient/visitor parking only. Patients and visitors need to follow directional signs to parking lots A and C. To direct visitors to additional parking areas, a parking attendant is stationed at the main parking.
As part of the expansion of the hospital, a temporary entrance and walkway has been constructed to the left of the main entrance while the main and emergency entrances are closed.
In order to access the main lobby and the Emergency Room (ER), all patients and visitors must use this entrance. Patients being released from the hospital will be escorted through the temporary walkway.
Patients who require outpatient lab work or radiology services are being asked to use the Health & Wellness Center at Hazleton.
Patients with non-life threatening or urgent care needs, such as flu, cold, earache, etc are directed to use ExpressCARE in the Hazleton Shopping Center or they can contact their primary care provider.
Treatment bays will be expanded from 18 to 30 treatment bays that will offer more privacy and comfort for patients. Four of these treatment bays will be used for fast track or urgent care patients.
In addition, a five-bed secured unit will be developed to treat behavioral health patients who come to the ER.
Phase 1 of the expansion and modernisation project that began in April 2018 is also underway with three of the six patient floors completely renovated.
The project is likely to be completed by the end of 2019.
