Macquarie University to set up new Private Hospital in Australia

Introduction

Macquarie University and Dalcross Private Hospital based in North Ryde New South Wales in Australia have announced plans for a joint venture to build a private hospital. The new Macquarie University Private Hospital will deliver medicine involving training, medical research and high quality patient care.

Budget

An investment of US$ 80 million will be made for the hospital.

The new hospital will be located at Macquarie University near the Travelodge Hotel in North Ryde NSW, Autralia.

Features

The new Macquarie University Private Hospital will have 150-beds, 10 operating theatres, 2 cardiac and vascular angiography suites. It also has specialist-consulting suites on campus with specialisation in neurosurgery, cardiology, vascular surgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, general surgery, and neurology and oncology services. The hospital will be linked to a clinical building due to open at the end of 2008, which will include:

  • Purpose- built research laboratories
  • The Australian School of Advanced Medicine
  • 3 floors of clinical consulting rooms

The Macquarie University Private Hospital will provide 'state of the art' hospital facilities, as well as facilitate the delivery of health education and research on site. The Hospital will incorporate the latest design features, providing inpatient and outpatient services, and will make a positive contribution to health services in the area. It will complement teaching and research services already offered at the University and will be a resource available for referral by general practitioners and specialists.
