McLaren Greater Lansing Breaks Ground on US$450 million Hospital

Introduction:

Officials from McLaren Health Care and Michigan State University broke ground for a new US$450 million healthcare campus.

Features:

The design and construction on the campus's medical services building and cancer center will begin within the next year.

The campus will house a 240-bed state-of-the-art hospital, cancer center, medical services building, and other facilities to support healthcare delivery, educational opportunities, and medical research.

More than 1, 000 physicians, researchers, educators and other members of the academic and medical team will be added.

The current estimated timeline to open the facilities is late 2021 or early 2022.

The new facility will develop new life-changing therapies and treatments. An estimated 2,500 construction jobs will be created in the development of the healthcare campus. An additional 80 employees are expected to add to its current workforce of more than 2, 000 employees.

Top construction and construction worker organisations will design and build the acute care hospital.
