Memorial Hospital to Expand in Carbondale
Introduction:
Memorial Hospital of Carbondale, the Illinois-based hospital, announced modernisation and expansion plans with an investment of US$52 million. The expansion project is expected to be complete in early 2017. The expansion project is aimed at improving the operating capacity, and to overcome the challenge of turning away patients due to lack of space.
Features:
The expansion project will include three new operating rooms, bringing the number to 10, increased Intensive Care beds from 13 to 21, and expanded pre-and post-operative care areas for patients and their families with modernised and expanded surgery
The project will also replace the post-anesthesia recovery unit and, replace and expand surgical prep area, central sterile processing and a modern pharmacy.
