Moorfields to open centre in Dubai
UK’s Moorfields eye hospital is poised to open its first overseas ophthalmology centre in Dubai by April 2007. The branch will be located in the Al Razi Medical Complex of the Dubai Healthcare City (DHCC).
According to the hospital, “the impetus for establishing a branch in Dubai was that Moorfields currently treats a large number of patients in the UK from United Arab Emirates and the Middle East.” In December 2006, the hospital announced appointment of Consultant Ophthalmologist, Chris Canning as its first Chief Executive Officer and Medical Director.
Moorfields Eye Hospital Dubai will work closely with the Harvard Medical School Dubai Centre to support post graduate training in Ophthalmology, as well as developing and participating in world class research with the Institute of Ophthalmology in London and other academic partners.
