MultiCare has unveiled its plans to build anew standalone hospital for Mary Bridge Children's Hospital in Tacoma.

Earlier Mary Bridge Children’s Hospitalhave shared its space with MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital, now moving into its own building dedicated for children.The new hospital will be partially built on the site of the original Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, which has been used for Mary Bridge Children’s outpatient services since the 1980s.
On completion, the new hospital will feature 82 private patient rooms with shelled space to meet future needs, 10 operating rooms, a Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, a hybrid interventional cardiology and radiology suite; dedicated MRI, CT and ultrasound, imaging, a state-of-the-art infusion center, endoscopy, lab and pharmacy services. In addition, paediatric emergency department includes 38 treatment rooms and a paediatric mental health crisis stabilisation unit.
In the new hospital every bed, exam table, operating rooms, imaging machine are designed to meet children’s needs.In the newly constructed hospital, healthcare services for children are delivered by highly trained clinicians in child-friendly environments.

The construction of the hospital would begin in early 2021 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2024.
