New Bedford Community Health Receives $1.5 Million for New Primary Care Facility
Introduction:
New Bedford Community Health (NBCH) has secured a $1.5 million grant from The Manton Foundation to support its capital campaign to transform a long-vacant Rite Aid building into a modern primary care facility in downtown New Bedford.
Features:
The new site is expected to serve an additional 3,000 patients each year, many of whom currently lack regular preventative healthcare.
The new facility will integrate with NBCH’s existing urgent care, behavioural health, pharmacy, and dental services, creating a comprehensive care campus in the heart of downtown New Bedford.
The expansion comes at a critical time as community health centres face growing demand and challenges from changes in federal and state Medicaid funding.
The grant from The Manton Foundation highlights a shared commitment to health equity and will enable NBCH to deliver high-quality,
compassionate care to thousands more residents in a facility designed to respect the dignity of every patient.
