NMC Healthcare’s New Speciality Hospital in Abu Dhabi to be Operational in 2015
Introduction:
New Medical Centre (NMC) Healthcare, the UAE based healthcare group, has announced that the new hospital under construction would be operational in the first half of 2015. The hospital construction, spanning a total area of 75,000 sq. metres, began in December 2012. This specialty hospital being built in Khalifa City, is expected to serve the growing population in the city and the nearby areas including Al Raha, Mussafah, Mohammed Bin Zayed City, Masdar City, Abu Dhabi International Airport, Shahama and Yas Island.
Budget:
New Medical Centre (NMC) is planning to spend Dh736-million (US$200 million) on this new hospital construction.
Features:
The NMC Specialty Hospital will include 250 beds and will provide 23 specialities. It will also have shaded and underground parking and a valet service.
Expansion plans:
In the first phase, the hospital will open with 75 beds and over 100 consultation rooms. The first phase will provide specialised medical care including emergency services, intensive care, paediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology, orthopaedics and urology.
The construction and contracting work is expected to be completed by the time of opening of first phase, and operational capacity could be increased with the inclusion of other specialties such as neurology, psychiatry, gastroenterology, nephrology and oncology.
