Novant Health Invests US$45 million to Open Emergency Department in USA

Introduction:
Novant Health breaks ground on US$45 million investment project to double the size of the existing emergency department.

Features:
The expansion will double the size of the current emergency department, resulting in a total space of 44,000 square feet.

As part of the expansion, 19 more rooms will be added to the emergency department. This includes 13 treatment rooms, two trauma rooms, and four rooms for behavioural health services.

The expansion will also include hybrid procedural space for new radiology and cardiology services, indicating a focus on advanced medical technology and diagnostics.

The project will relocate and expand mobile pad support areas, which might refer to spaces for mobile medical equipment and resources. In addition, renovations are planned for the existing waiting rooms, public safety area, and lab, suggesting an overall enhancement of the patient experience and safety measures.

Over the years, the emergency department has experienced a consistent rise in patient numbers, and due to the constraints of limited physical space, this expansion is crucial to prevent capacity overload. It will enable a larger number of individuals to receive the vital and potentially life-saving emergency care they require.

The project is anticipated to be completed in the fall of 2025.
