Orthopedic Associates of Hartford (OAH) announced plans to replace its Rocky Hill surgery center with a new US$30 million facility.

The 45, 000-square-foot-surgery center is designed to create an extraordinary patient experience.
The new center will be 40 percent larger than its existing facility and it houses 600 square feet of operating rooms.
These rooms will be equipped to manage over 100 cases per day and up to 15, 000 cases annually.
The 45,000 square foot facility is slated to open on January 7, 2019.
The center will feature 25-plus rooms, including seven operating rooms, one procedure room and a full-service physical therapy center.
Surgeons at the facility will perform a variety of procedures including shoulder, knee and hip replacements, spine surgery, shoulder and knee arthroscopy, and hand, wrist elbow, foot and ankle surgery.
The operating rooms are over 600 square feet to accommodate the latest technology and robotic systems while providing surgeons with more room to comfortably operate.
The new outpatient surgery center will be included with the most advanced sterilisation systems on the market.
Physical therapy will be started in the post-operative surgical area on immediate basis so that patients can go home the same day.
One of the most prominent architectural features is the floor-to-ceiling windows which bring an abundance of natural light flooding the interior patient care environment.
The hospital will be incorporated with the beautiful natural stone walls, soothing colors, and custom art work embody a sense of calmness and serenity, unlike a hospital.
From the exterior of the building to the landscaping, electrical units, lighting, and finishes, every detail was designed to be environmentally responsible and resource efficient.
