Pacific Healthcare to open two new cosmetic medical specialist centers in India

Introduction

Pacific Healthcare has announced its plan to open a second clinic in India - in Mumbai – and add one more clinic in Hyderabad, where it opened its first Indian facility in 2004.

For the Mumbai facility, Pacific Healthcare is starting a 50:50 joint venture with The Wadia Group, a private conglomerates, to open a cosmetic medical specialist centre. The company has also announced its plans to open one more

The second phase of the agreement with The Wadia Group will involve building a medical spa, which will be at least four times as large as the first centre. The Wadia Group runs the Wadia Maternity Hospital and Wadia Children Hospital in Mumbai. It also has companies spanning the textiles, airlines, chemicals, agriculture, foods, laminates, engineering, healthcare and dairy industries.

Pacific Healthcare's facility in Hyderabad is located in a four-story building, which Pacific rented. The next step in Hyderabad will be to build another centre, for which Pacific already has two hectares of land.

'We are quite comfortable with our investments in India and we are quite confident that our Hyderabad facility will show positive figures by next year,' said Pacific Healthcare's CEO, William Chong. 'We think the timing is right for us to begin our next venture', he added. For the first half of this year, Pacific Healthcare made a profit of $2.5 million, 36.8 per cent higher than in 2005. Revenue grew 30.1 per cent to $29.3 million.

Pacific Healthcare will also open a five-storey facility in Shanghai by the end of the year.

Features

The centre will occupy about 7,000 square feet of rented space in the World district and will have an initial set-up cost of $1 million. It will focus on Pacific Healthcare's specialities of plastic surgery, dermatology, cosmetic and implant dentistry.
