Regional One Health Invests US$900 Million in New Hospital Campus in Memphis
Introduction
Regional One Health is developing a new US$900 million hospital campus at the former Commercial Appeal site in Memphis, Tennessee. The project will replace the existing hospital with a modern 600,000-square-foot facility designed to expand specialist services, increase patient capacity and support the region's growing healthcare needs.
Features
The new hospital will provide more than 315 patient beds, increasing capacity from the existing 300-bed facility at Jefferson Avenue.
The campus will include specialist services such as trauma and burn care, women's and infants' services, an expanded Emergency Department and observation unit, rehabilitation, oncology and comprehensive imaging.
The facility will include two helipads to support emergency transport and access to specialist trauma services.
A family-centred Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) will feature private patient rooms to provide greater privacy and support for families.
The new campus will also include a modern laboratory, pharmacy and additional clinical support services, supported by infrastructure designed to accommodate future expansion.
Regional One Health is currently the only adult Level I Trauma Center within 150 miles of Memphis and the only verified burn centre within 400 miles, making the new facility an important part of specialist emergency care in the region.
The project is expected to support approximately 3,600 construction jobs and 2,300 secondary jobs.
The development is being funded through US$500 million from Shelby County, alongside philanthropic contributions and other funding sources.
