Riverside Community Hospital Announces $912 Million Expansion
Introduction
Riverside Community Hospital, part of HCA Healthcare, has announced a major $912 million expansion to meet the growing healthcare needs of the Inland Empire and surrounding areas. The project will include an 11-storey patient tower and a new parking garage, designed to increase hospital capacity, improve patient care, and provide long-term, earthquake-safe facilities.
Key Features
The expansion will add a 459,496-square-foot patient tower housing labour and delivery, antepartum and postpartum care, a pharmacy, radiology, and an endoscopy suite.
It will provide 220 medical-surgical beds and 54 intensive care beds, while three floors will remain as shell space for future patient rooms and operating theatres.
The project builds on recent hospital improvements, including a 20-bed emergency room expansion, a 35-bed inpatient unit, a 35-bed neonatal intensive care unit expansion, upgrades to imaging services with CT scans, MRI, and x-ray, renovations of four cardiac catheterisation labs, a 34-bed surgical intensive care unit renovation, a 25-bed telemetry unit expansion, and ER Trauma Bay refurbishment.
The new tower is also designed to comply with California’s strict seismic standards, ensuring the hospital remains operational during earthquakes and extends the facility’s lifespan.
