Introduction:

Sanford Health has unveiled its plans to construct a new US$25 million heart and vascular center at the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center.

Features:

The new center covering an area of 56,000 square feet will be built on the eastern side of the Sanford Bemidji Medical Center, using up space now designated for parking.

Upon completion, the building will house cardiology, vascular, pulmonary, and respiratory services. It will include 19 clinic rooms, 11 diagnostic imaging rooms, education rooms, a cardiovascular recovery unit, a family room, and three cardiac catheterisation labs with space for a fourth in the future.Besides, the center will also have the ability to add a fourth cath lab and an electrophysiology specialist and services in the future.

Apart from these, other plans include green/energy-efficient practices similar to those in place throughout the medical center. Among them are LED lighting, energy efficient boilers, and access to single-stream recycling.

The new building will have direct access to the second floor of the medical center. This creates a smooth transfer to inpatient floors and services, providing a better overall patient experience.

Construction for the new center will take about 18 months and is anticipated to be complete in the fall of 2021.
