Sanford Health to Start Construction of a New US$25 million Heart, Vascular Center

Introduction:

Sanford Health has unveiled its plans for the construction of a new US$25 million heart and vascular center at its Bemidji Medical Center, Minnesota.

Features:

The new facility would be the largest addition to the Sanford Bemidji Campus sprawling around 56,000 square feet.

The medical center would be located between the Main Clinic east of the Healing Garden and the medical center's east entrance.

On completion, the building will house cardiology, vascular, pulmonary, and respiratory therapy services. It will include 19 clinic rooms, education rooms, a cardiovascular recovery unit, a family room, and three cardiac catheterisation labs with space for a fourth in the future.

With direct access to the second floor of the medical center, the building will allow patients to transfer to inpatient floors and services, providing a better overall experience.

The medical center plans include implementing green/energy-efficient practices similar to those that are currently in place throughout the medical center including LEDs, energy-efficient boilers and access to single-stream recycling.

An additional US$2.5 million would be raised by the Sanford Foundation for the medical center.
The construction of the hospital would begin in the spring of 2020.
