South Georgia Medical Centre Invests US$15 million to Expand Berrien Hospital

Introduction:

South Georgia Medical Centre invests US$15 million to expand hospital campus in Georgia, USA.  The expansion will include several notable features to improve patient care and experience.

Features:

The project aims to enhance enhance emergency medical services and improve overall facilities.

The project is underway to expand the current campus footprint of SGMC's Berrien Campus by 26,000 square feet. It includes construction of a new two-storey emergency room addition.

This state-of-the-art addition will replace the existing four-room emergency department with a modern nine-room emergency department.

The emergency department will see significant enhancements, with larger trauma and speciality care patient rooms designed to accommodate various medical needs. Advanced monitoring systems and modern furnishings will be integrated into the emergency department to ensure cutting-edge medical care and patient comfort.

In addition to the improvements in the emergency department, the expansion project will also feature a new lobby and entrance to other hospital services.   

In addition to emergency services, the campus will continue to provide comprehensive medical care for both inpatient and outpatient needs.

The range of services includes imaging services featuring 3-D mammography, a specialised 12-bed geriatric psychiatric unit, and a dedicated substance abuse centre.

Construction work is progressing and is expected to complete in Fall 2024.
