Southern Tennessee Regional Health Announces $11 Million Emergency Department Expansion
Introduction
Southern Tennessee Regional Health System has announced an $11 million renovation and expansion of its emergency department. Funded by the hospital’s parent company, Lifepoint Health, the project aims to improve patient care, enhance staff workflow, and accommodate future growth in Giles County.
Features
The project will relocate the emergency department to the front of the hospital and nearly double its size with an additional 4,624 square feet.
Bed capacity will increase from seven to eleven, including observation and holding rooms, as well as bariatric and trauma rooms.
Over $1 million will be invested in new medical equipment. The renovation is designed to enhance patient experience, improve staff efficiency, and provide a modern, state-of-the-art environment for emergency care in the region, where the hospital treats more than 12,000 patients annually.
The groundbreaking event scheduled for early 2026.
