Introduction:
St. Francis Regional Medical Center has announced its expansion and renovation of emergency department and cancer center worth US$25 million.

The medical center also announced a US$5 million ‘capital campaign’ to help fund the project, along with a donation of US$1 million from the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community.
On completion, the medical center will feature 14 new emergency rooms, two trauma rooms, six rooms for mental health emergencies, and a four-station garage for ambulances.
The project will revamp the 15,000 existing square feet, adding another 15,000 square feet of new construction to the hospital.
St. Francis will break ground on the emergency department expansion in May and is expected to be operational in fall 2021. However, the emergency room will remain operational during construction.
Besides, St. Francis will also double the number of medical oncology exam rooms in its Cancer Center, increasing from four to eight and will expand its current infusion area.
The Cancer Center expansion is expected to be completed in May 2020.
