Introduction:
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital invests US$11.5 billion to support research and treatment for children with catastrophic diseases globally.
Features:
The project consists of multi-phase expansion plan for patient care and clinical laboratory research related to catastrophic diseases. The disease research areas include blood disorders, neurological diseases, infectious diseases and cancer.
New state-of-the-art technology center is constructed with an investment US$250 million. Its features include:
• Addition of new Center of Excellence in Advanced Microscopy to build the next generation of microscopes that explore cells in ways previously unimaginable
• Enlarging data science staff and the digital infrastructure to the biological discovery in normal and disease states
• Establishing a Cryo-Electron Tomography Center to determine atomic structure of molecules in their native states within human cells.
Expansion of cancer-focused research and related clinical care is laid with an investment of US$3.7 billion. The investments include:
• Accelerating preclinical and clinical testing capabilities of new therapeutic agents
• Expanding collaborative trials to reach more childhood cancer patients across US and globally.
Another US$1.1 billion investment will focus carrying work on non-malignant hematological diseases, such as sickle cell disease, and a new research clinical program to better understand for the treatment of pediatric neurological diseases.
