Taranaki Base Hospital Invests US$56.1 million to Construct New Cancer Centre in New Zealand

Introduction:
Taranaki Cancer Centre (TCC) at Taranaki Base Hospital is investing US$56.1 million to construct cancer centre in New Zealand.

Features:
The project budget for the Taranaki Cancer Centre (TCC) has increased significantly, totalling $56.1 million, which is more than double the initial budget of $20.6 million. This budget expansion is primarily due to two key factors.

The Taranaki Cancer Centre (TCC) is designed to be a 5-star Green Star-certified facility. The centre will feature the latest cancer treatment technologies to ensure the best possible care for patients.

Some of the key components of the advanced technological features include:
•    The centre will provide ten chairs and two single isolation rooms for chemotherapy
•    Eight outpatient consult rooms will be equipped with video conferencin capability, allowing patients to consult with medical professionals remotely when necessary.
•    The centre will incorporate a restful and appropriate décor in waiting areas
•    Family facilities
•    LINAC Radiotherapy Unit
•    The building will be designed to be accessible, with facilities such as carer-assisted change and bathrooms
•    Staff offices and amenities

Once operational, the centre is expected to have a significant impact on cancer care in the region. It will not only offer advanced cancer treatment technologies but also bring together specialists and oncology services, making it a hub for comprehensive cancer care.

The completion of the Taranaki Cancer Centre is currently scheduled for mid-2025.
