Trinity Health Ann Arbor Announces $60.5M Emergency Department Expansion and Upgrade

Introduction

Trinity Health Ann Arbor has announced a major renovation and expansion of its Emergency Department as part of a $60.5 million investment programme. The multi-phase project will run over three years and is aimed at improving emergency care services for Washtenaw County and nearby communities.

Features

The project includes the refurbishment of 44,600 square feet of the existing Emergency Department and a neighbouring dialysis area, alongside a new 13,100-square-foot extension.

Once complete, the upgraded department will offer increased capacity, with more private treatment rooms and stretcher bays.

This will remove the need for hallway treatment spaces and provide a safer, more private environment for patients.

The redesigned department will also improve facilities for families and carers, offering more comfortable and accessible waiting and support areas.

Flexible treatment areas equipped with modern technology will allow the department to respond to current and future emergency care needs.

An additional CT scanner will be installed within the Emergency Department to speed up diagnostic imaging.

Construction of the expanded and renovated Emergency Department is scheduled to be completed in late 2028.
