UC Davis Health Invests US$3.74 million to Construct New Medical Tower in USA
Introduction:
UC Davis Health Invests US$3.74 million to open a new state-of-the-art medical centre in USA.
Features:
The expansion project will add a new 14-storey hospital tower and a 5-storey pavilion to the existing University and Davis Towers at the medical centre. This development aims to enhance healthcare services and address the evolving needs of the community.
The new hospital tower, situated on the eastern side of the current facility, will span nearly one million square feet. It will house new operating rooms, an imaging centre, cutting-edge pharmacy and burn care facilities, and approximately 334 private patient rooms.
Of these, over 250 rooms are being designed with enhanced flexibility to accommodate patient surges during events like pandemics, wildfires, or other disasters. These rooms can be easily converted into intensive care units with air isolation, ensuring they can cater to patients requiring any level of care.
The US$3.74 billion project will replace sections of the hospital that must close to comply with California’s seismic regulations. Hospitals across the state are upgrading or constructing new facilities to meet earthquake resilience standards.
Currently, the medical centre has 646 beds, making it the largest hospital in the Sacramento region.
Once the project is completed in 2030, the centre will have between 675 and 700 inpatient beds, with the new tower expected to be operational the same year.
