UC Health Constructs New Emergency Department at UC Medical Center in Cincinnati

Introduction:

UC health plans for the construction of new emergency department. The center offers speciality and subspeciality care for critical ill patients.

Features:

The new emergency department laid with 41,000 square-foot will increase the patient flow and improve capacity at UC Medical Center. Moreover, the current emergency department consisting of 35,000 square-foot will also be renovated as part of the project.

The emergency department tower features an observation unit, a flexible intensive care unit, and surge space dedicated for emergency or crisis situations. In addition, it also includes shelled floor designed for patient care in future and a top mechanical floor to enable a future vertical build of the tower.

Both renovation and expansion of emergency department are part of US$221 million ‘Forward’ project announced in October 2019.

The emergency department along with surgical building will reshape and enhance the UC Health’s Clifton Campus.
