UCSF to Start Construction of New Parnassus Heights Hospital

Introduction:

UC San Francisco constructs UCSF Helen Dilller Medical Centre located at Parnassus Heights.

Features:

The new hospital owns a 16-story building covering an area of 955,000-gross-square-foot facility. UCSF’s known as second-largest employer will provide more than 43,000 jobs opportunities.

The new hospital strengthens UCSF’s world-renowned clinical, research and training mission where developments of breakthroughs in health science research have been translated into treatments and therapies delivered to patients here and around the world.

Nearly 3,000 patients from current adjoined hospitals at Parnassus Heights, Moffitt and Long, have moved away annually for speciality care, due to insufficient bed capacity. Much of the demand arises from health care providers and community hospitals for care in areas ranging from cancer to cardiology to neurology.Hence, new hospital is designed to meet the growing demand for complex adult medical care.

The new project is designed with advanced technologies in clinical and surgical settings, including robotics and intra-operative imaging, as well as the space needed for a modern Emergency Department.

The new project designed with seismic requirements for hospitals is expected to be completed by 2030.
